hi,

i've been building with a group that has an experienced instructor guiding us, and where most people are on their 2 or 3 kayaks.

different people prefer different sequences and do ok, but the crucial question seems to be this:

do you have constant temperature and humidity, or will there be wild swings?

the hull will not keep its shape unless it has been glassed both sides if the conditions in the shop vary. so one must make sure that the hull and deck remain on the same page .

: I have the hull of my Great Auk nearly complete now. Just the stems to add.
: It's built without staples and hot glued here and there to the forms.
: Should I fair, sand, and fiberglass the hull now or just flip it and begin
: stripping the deck. If I just flip it now and start the deck, I will at
: some point have to remove the hull from the forms before it's all closed
: up and I can't access the hot glue blobs. Seems I would want fiberglass on
: it before it comes off the forms right?

: I'm thinking: -sand, fair, and fiberglass the hull now
: -flip the hull, trim the fiberglass at the sheer and begin stripping the deck
: -get a good start on the deck, at least the sheer and a few more strip in
: -detach the hull from the forms for the first time by removing hot glue from
: inside the hull
: -finish stripping the deck
: -fair, sand and fiberglass the deck
: -cut in the cockpit coaming and hatches
: -fair, sand and fiberglass insides of both hull and deck

: Does this sound right?
