I guess you could weigh the amount of the sheer clamp you would be removing, and compare that with the weight of the epoxy and fiberglass you would be replacing it with. Then I'd weigh whether that 0-6oz or so is worth the PITA factor . . . .

But, really, I don't know the answer to your question. I do have one of my own, though - how are you going to fillet and tape under the rear deck? That 4" hole in the aft bulkhead doesn't leave a lot of room for access!
