Strip: Gluing revisited

I know this has been discussed many times in the past but I would like to get your latest thoughts on gluing. Specifically, I would like to know:
• What glue do you currently use and why?
• What method do you use to apply the glue to your strips for bead and cove? Flat/beveled strips?
• When and how do you clean up the excess glue?
