I use the industrial strength "Nifty Wrap" as seen in the attached pic. It's
sold at Ace Hardware among others. I wrap 3 or 4 layers and use duct tape
every couple of feet ( clear duct tape on attached pic) to keep it all
together while driving down the freeway.

I've paddled many boats 10 times or more each with no problems, and have
paddled up to 2 hours in one session. It sure slows the boat down.
