G'day Darren,

Tom Yost uses an 18oz/square yard (ie 612gsm) PVC coated polyester for his covering.

INNOVA INTERNATIONAL PTY.LTD. in Moorabbin, ph 9551 8722 should be able to help with the same sort of fabric.. Precontraint 605 (630gsm) or Innotarp (520gsm). They also sell clear PVC in 0.5mm thickness (20 mil as used by Yost). They should be able to help with a suitable adhesive too.

Ricky Richards in N.S.W., ph. (02) 9735 3333 sell 'Maxiscreen' (400gsm), 'Maxitex' (650gsm) & 'Maxiplus' (680gsm) and should be able to direct you to a retailer near you in Melbourne.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Phil
Adelaide.

: Hi,

: I am sure someone here has discussed suppliers in Australia for SOF kayaks
: before, but I can't find the post.

: I am about to start a Yost SOF wood-frame kayak and want to get it done
: before Easter for a trip to our alpine lakes (Jindabyne for any locals).

: I'm not sure where to shop or what to ask for for the skin (& glue). Is
: it just 'standard' vinyl from somewhere like Clark Rubber or a hardware
: store? Or something specific? And what sort of vinyl cement is
: recommended?

: Thanks - sorry for the 'basic' questions..I've done some searches on
: suppliers but need to know what to ask for.

: Regards,
: Darren
