Darren:Depending on the feet size you can use some support under heels (patch of soft camping mattress or reinforcement of PVC ) or nothing... the PVC cover is tough enough (Clear PVC is stretchy than nylon supported one)... as you can see in the picture (nothing is used).
If you cannot reach station 3 with your feet you can tray with a block of PU foam (from packaging) cutting it until you feel OK. and then replacing it with something more permanent.
Of course you can use footbraces (adjustables or fixed).There are some samples in Tom Yost's site.
