Hello again Darren,

When I used floorboards.... back in the day , I made them as small as
possible and used the thinnest plywood I could find ... and any grade that was
available.

Attached is a pic from my BIF-16 lashed / glued Baidarka. Note that the cross
section has been placed as the footbrace.

The Link below shows an old Dyson alum / wood hybrid... I ran out of redwood
left over from a stripper project so I used aluminum for the keel and
deckridge. The skin is Nylon / Hypalon. Again, the cross section is placed
for footbrace use.

Too bad more folks don't try hypalon ( synthetic rubber) as it's a super
tough , flexible coating, with excellent abrasion resistance. Neoprene is
equally tough, and has the advantage of quicker set-up time.

Of course, all this help will cost you a few pots of beer when I go motorcycle
touring down under early next year. There are several Kiwi's who will be
hearing from me also. Mince pie anyone ?
