Hi Bill,
This looks like a great idea.
I once worked at a place that made wooden models of auto parts. Then two fiberglass half molds were taken off the model with flashing flanges for clamping, and prepared with parting. Than a shot (fiberglass part) was made by using white epoxy and glass strips over filled inside the mold cavity. The two mold haves were put together and clamped, sqeezing excess epoxy out the flanges. Out came a part that was to size and looked like the original part would be when manufactured. This was then sent to the manufacture for approval. This was compressed fiberglass in a different way but looked great.
