Hi Frank,
There are several "Spectra" ropes. I am refering to "Spectraspeed" made by Donaghys in NZ. I have seen it at kayak races on boats from NZ. Everyone seems to think it is a great product for rudder lines on racing kayaks. I am not worried about having to replace it every couple of years. I like it because it is so tightly braided, stiff, light weight, and stretch resistant. I have not been able to find anything like it at sailboat shops, etc. 2MM is a perfect diameter for rudder lines.
There are certainly a lot of products that will work for this application and your search has found one. However, I tend to seek products that have been proven, especially for racing. Check the link for description of Spectraspeed.

: Bad form to respond to myself, I'm sure, but here's a link to some Spectra
: that's $.24 per foot, which works out to about $6.5 for the same length
: cable. This one doesn't have a braided sheath on it though, which may be
: better for smooth motion but less rugged.
: This came up from a quick google search of "spectra cord".
