Will, I don't have a better photo now, but lightened up the photo to show the footbraces better. I'll take another shot when I am back home but only get to good internet once a week or so.
The footbraces are simply made from little wooden triangles, with the foot-facing edge slightly less than 90 degrees, so they hold the foot well during rolling while being comfortable.
To align them, I created a guide for bottom edge - a stick covered with plastic packing tape - and spaced the triangles 2.5" apart on both sides.
Next boats I may get a little fancy rounding the corners more on the blocks, but I'm converted to this style of footbrace now.
