Well, I asked George Dyson about this and he seemed perplexed and said he certainly didn't recommend it, or words to that effect. So I haven't done it.

However, I think the idea has merit.

WWFloyd, nylon does make for a tight skin,. I think the skin loosening thing is variable. One boat I made loosens up a bit where my heels sit, and there are eventually, other small wrinkles. But, another boat I have hasn't seemed to wrinkle at all, even though it is skinned with the same material. I think the skin was pulled tighter when I sewed it on.
In any case, what I think I am trying to say is that the wrinkling isn't really that big a deal, in my experience.
Polyester might be the way to go if you're worried about it. It doesn't have to be the heat shrink stuff, either.
