My buddy has a Flyer and it has tons of twist. It's the largest size Flyer they make I think. It feels much different from my favorite paddle, a Turbo men's wing, made in Canada of solid carbon (no core material). The Turbo has the most solid catch of any wing paddle I have used. I also have a Fenn IV which is similar to Brasca IV and all the ripoffs. It has decent catch and is easier through the water. The Turbo is like putting the paddle in concrete, great catch and stability, but can be hard on joints if you aren't physically prepared. Another buddy keeps his KayakPro wing paddle at my house. It is gelcoated fiberglass and more teardrop than my Turbo.. paddle surface is very slick. I don't know what characteristic does it, but it feels 'slicker' in the water. don't know a better way to describe it, and I am fairly sure it doesn't actually have anything to do with the surface finish, probably just the shape.
If I was forced to paddle for 24 hours straight, I'd use the Fenn IV because the Turbo would just be too much to pull that huge blade for super long distances. The Fenn is also good in the ocean, where you find yourself paddling 'uphill' on the backside of a wave. The Turbo catches too well in this case. But for everything else, I like the Turbo, and I can sprint a good deal faster with it. The bigger the blade area, usually the faster top end sprint speed is possible, and also the slower your general cadence will be, for better or worse. I need to measure them all sometime.

: Hi Ken,
: Nice to have someone answering questions about the wing, I'm certainly no
: expert, but I do enjoy mine. Must have gotten lucky with my Flyer, works
: well for me, course I've only paddled with one other to compare it to.
: Around here, upper midwest, there's not alot to compare them to.
