I recently purchased a Tuilik with a fixed casing that fits on the coaming pretty tight. I left it on for a couple of days and it loosed up, but I would still like to be able to pop the skirt without using the grab loop.
I found that if I held a 1" piece of webbing in one hand inside the cockpit (or tied it around my knee) and had the other end sticking out the other side between the coaming and skirt, the skirt would come of the coaming fairly easily with a nice tug of the webbing. For actual paddling, I could attach it to the kayak, but am wondering also if it would work just as well attached to the underside of the skirt itself (and again sticking out from between the skirt and coaming). Anyhow, just fishing for thoughts. Has anyone done anything like this?
