: Hi all.
: I´m building a Yost Sea Tour 17 exp as you can see in by swedish blog.
: Now to my consern, do I have to use the big (32" x 16")which will
: rest on the section 3 and 4? Or can I use a smaller coaming that only
: rests on the skin?
: Best R Daniel
You can make the coaming any size you want, though with the Yost boats the ends should rest on a frame, so you'll need an intermediate frame (can be a half frame) to support it. If it were me, I'd extend the deck stringer, so you can measure for the frame, but I think Tom will do it if you ask him too. I did this on I think the Sea Ranger I built, just made an intermediate frame from the gunwales to the deck stringer, kind of an open triangle shaped piece.
With traditional SOF's the coaming isn't attached to the structure, but the coaming does rest on the frame cross members, it's not just hanging from the skin.
