I used a 50-50 mix of Jacquards russet and chestnut acid dyes, and I have to admit I wasn't happy with the color until I started coating and then it darkened up to my liking. If I did it again I would use less russet to get more of a wood look to it. I put on 4 coats of Zar Satin Oil based Polyurethane.
