Bill, These boats/skis are not as tippy as you might think. Primary stability isn't very good but they do have very reasonable secondary stability. I'm not an expert paddler by any measure of the stick but I can(could) lay my Red7 on its side and paddle along in flat water. i'm guessing that is is so due to the sheer line being a a fair bit higher. When Bjorn T modified his Sea Racer kayak design as a prototype for the soon to be released Fusion ski he literally just stretched the length out a bit and added 2 extra strips at the sheer. Opened up the cockpit oviously.

You obciously have an interest in the technical aspects of kayaks/boats so i have attached some links that you might find interesting. the info was compiled for adventure racing purposes. Adventure racing is really taking off in NZ & Aus. with the open ocean paddling being the mystery for many particpants. Most can run, swim and manage a mountain bike but many find the paddle daunting. The boats compared range from the super stable to the top of the line Fenn & Epic.
