I am currently quite interested in the issue of tinting varnish. It seems a most successful way to go, but i need clarification about what is the "oil paint" you use to tint the varnish?

I have been assuming it was "artists oil paints" that come in a tube, but i saw a post the other day that made me question that assumption.

Can you clarify the issue for me please?

While i am trying to get things clear i had just as well ask about the "oil based varnish". I presume that polyurethane varnish is not oil based, but would the oil based tint work with that or not?
