All I can offer is my experience. I used the Skin Boat school method and it worked for me. I did one thing they don't do. I took a dowel and ever 6 to 8 stitches I wrapped the sinew around the dowel and pulled it tight. I have done two using their methods (no staples) and it both came out very well.
