You've hit on a problem I've been working to solve for several years. The plan is to have a traveling boat-building school.

Actually, there is a second problem you haven't encountered yet: unless you buy a complete kit you'll have to hunt for every material you'd need.

What I want to do is load tools, wood, resin, and glass cloth into a truck and take the materials and the knowledge on the road. I'd set up in one site for a week, or two, and work with small groups of builders. Unfortunately the current economic conditions are making it a lot harder to fund a start-up business.
The most recent schedule (now obsolete) called for a couple of building sessions in Indianapolis during this summer, with 2 or 3 other sessions, during autumn, further south and east. Right now that schedule is on hold.
I still have a lot of work to do before this idea becomes a reality, but if you'd like, I'll email you more info when I have any.
