Well, I do like to be able to paddle in wind and chop, and, most of the time, in better conditions, without a skirt. Those low freeboard models can be made awash rather easily. They're narrower, too, and by the time I get a comfortable seat in one, may find 'em too tender.
: Just out of curiosity, what do you need more freeboard for in a day paddler?
: At 135 lbs, you'll float plenty high in a Sea Rover, which is his smallest
