Sometimes the obvious just escapes me! I read about the stability factor on the Bear Mountain Boats web site that Steve Killing came up with. I have tried and tried to apply it to my designs in FreeShip and just couldn't seem to figure it out.

Finally with some help I saw that I had the numbers already, I was just looking at the diagrams wrong and was trying to calculate the wrong thing. I had it all the time and just didn't realize it. After figuring the numbers what I felt by the seat of the pants seems to line up with numbers, so I believe I finally have it!

And now I see why the version of the Sea Ranger I built is so uncomfortable for me. It has a stability factor of only 52 and from what I read the K1 racing boats are 48-50.

Just excited to finally have figured that out and added it to my toolbox.
