: Looking for a new variable speed ROS to supplement my DeWalt single speed.
: Anybody know about the low profile Porter Cable (see link)? Specifically:
: 1. PSA or hook and loop? (You can have either one.)
: 2. Soft pad available? (Showstopper if no pad available.)
: 3. Overall quality, ease of use, ergonomics, etc.?
: 4. Other models/mfrs. I should be looking at?

First, I'd prefer the random orbit vs. the DA (dual action) the previous won't tend to make circles in the wood while the later will.
Porter Cable generally is excellent quality, properly taken care of, should last a life time. Sometimes they are heavy weight wise compared to other brands, not necessarily a bad thing in a sander.
Hook and loop pads are fast and easy also cost nearly double what the adhesive pads do, depends on what your priorities are.
Personally I don't like soft pads, others do.
