I think your thoughts are on par with the hazzards associated with fibreglass dust. I wouldn't go for a full face respirator - a half-mask is sufficient. Tyvek is good to keep the dust off your clothes. Wear safety glasses with side shields to keep the dust out of your eyes. If possible, either do the sanding outside so that the wind blows the dust away from your body or use a vacuum setup to suck the dust into a bag as it is produced. A simple shop vac setup with the hose attached to the sander would work. I usually sand outside when I can using wind direction in my favour. The use of organic filters is ideal, especially while working with the epoxy. Again, I try to do that with the wind in my favour. Nitrile gloves are a necessity while working with epoxy, sanding or gluing. Repeated exposure to epoxy will cause sensitivity over time. Caution is always the best policy so that you can continue to enjoy good health while doing any build/restoration.
