Hi Doug,
If it's for a single use or infrequent use, renting is better for pneumatics. They're expensive. Forgot to mention that in my post. oops.
Get an electric sander, specially for any timber sanding, that's best done dry.

Oh yeah, ear defenders are a must with pneumo sanders, they put out a lot of high frequency noise.
