I think my total suspicion about the reality of the method is in the practical ratio of it to work. I've been adding graphite to the epoxy which I make my seats from for years and it's not slippery and actually very hard to sand. It seems like you would have to add enough so it is actually chalky and rubs off easily to do any good. Pedro wanted to know about getting black using graphite. I think if there is enough in there where you are getting black, then it is lubricating. Maybe if you had scientific testing equipment to test a graphite filled epoxy surface vs. a clean one, the graphite surface might build less heat during abrasion or more. But to assume that you are going to be able to drag your kayak up a rocky beach with no scratches is just fantasy. I think I would be convinced if I saw that application regularly used on other products. It is a nice blackening agent however.
I'm going to aks the people at WEST SYSTEMS and see what they say. I'll post it.
