The perimeter lines or 'grab lines', need to be rope, not bungee chord. That shiny, slick, gracefully curved boat looks pretty-as-can-be, until you find yourself swimming along side it, using one hand to try and keep the wind/tide from taking it away from you while clinging on to your paddle in the other.

Everyone is eventually going to take a swim. Even if it never happens by accident, it should be practiced with purpose. One needs to know how to recover and get back in their boat. In my mind, the grab lines are required equipment.
