Dan, on my Sea Rider, I filled in between station 4 and 5, and between the keel and chine stringers, with 1/2" or maybe 3/4" minicell foam (not sure the measurement, it's what I had from Delmarva) and then I put a Thermarest z-rest foam 3/4 length sleeping pad. The minicell gets me up high enough so I don't get butt wedgie from the keel, and the Thermarest keeps things warm enough in the winter. It's pretty comfortable, low center of gravity. That, and I never liked the look of the aluminum brackets Tom has on his site. (Sorry, Tom.)

: I am building a wood Frame Yost Sea Ranger large coaming. I was wondering if
: 1/4 inch oak will be strong enough for the cockpit bottom boards. Since
: this is the large coaming version, these boards need to span 29. Thanks
: for any advice :) (for reference, Yost recommends 3/8" cedar)
