: Dan, on my Sea Rider, I filled in between station 4 and 5, and between the
: keel and chine stringers, with 1/2" or maybe 3/4" minicell foam
: (not sure the measurement, it's what I had from Delmarva) and then I put a
: Thermarest z-rest foam 3/4 length sleeping pad. The minicell gets me up
: high enough so I don't get butt wedgie from the keel, and the Thermarest
: keeps things warm enough in the winter. It's pretty comfortable, low
: center of gravity. That, and I never liked the look of the aluminum
: brackets Tom has on his site. (Sorry, Tom.)

Depending on the Yost boat I'm building, if it's wide enough, I just use scrap pieces of stringer material as supports for the seat strips, they are just epoxied to the frames. This does raise the seat some, so might not be a great idea on an 18" wide kayak
