Gary, I have 3" edge sander and I looked at sanding on it. I agree a disk sander is probably the safest choice but I have never wanted one, till now. I don't want to change out the blade on the table saw for a sanding disk. I do a lot of woodworking and with this jig the only set up is the blade height. So if I need to make a scarf it's very really fast this way.
After a lot of study, except the dusk a disk sander is the way to go!

Just eyeballed it. But the stock is 3/4" thick and the cut was 5" so that's 6.5 to 1? I juse made sure it gave me a long edge to glue up.
