: Regarding the use of inner/outer stems for attaching strip ends, Can any body

: * shape the appropriate entry/exit angles onto the form,
: * use jigsaw to cut off shaped edge,
: * temporaily reattach cutoff (allowing for kerf)

That's what I did on my Mystery when I wanted to get it built fast. It turns into such a small piece after tapering that it wasn't worth worrying about weight or quality of wood. It just holds the strips in place during stripping. The inside edge gives the glass a bonding surface too. I wouldn't do a boat without an inner stem having done it both ways.

I'm doing the same for a wood strip surfski but replacing the fir plywood with marine grade okuome. It seems like a waist of effort but I had the wood so I used it. I cut off the fir stem and traced it onto the Marine grade.

I'm lurking on other sites following the surfski BTW. More later.
