Strip: Clamcleat placement

I have installed a rudder on my latest stripper. I am wondering about the best placement, near the cockpit, for the rudder lift line clamcleat. What should I consider before I drill the holes. This is my first retracting rudder, having previously used kick-up rudders on racing boats.Your thoughts are greatly appreciated.
