Strip: Poly over Varnish

There have been a couple of threads recently about the use of two part polyurethane varnish that provides a more scratch resistant finish.

I have just applied a couple of coats of high gloss spar varnish, can I apply a coat or two of the 2 part poly on top or will that turn out badly?

The poly I have is System 3 WR-LPU 2 part poly top coat clear glass.
