As a professional lurker, I think I like the squirting of glue. Actually I have built a strip NightHeron and love it. I've also built a lot of furniture. I am now going to build a Yost Sea Ranger (wood frame)and will glue and screw. Lashing (though they say it won't) seems that it would leave "bumps" in the skin.
I was wondering about the way Tom removes the screw and replaces it with a glued dowel, is that necessary? It would seem counter sinking the screw and leaving it in would keep sufficient strength.
Kudzu, the name Kudzu, would seem to imply your in the south, anywhere near ATL?

: Trying to get a feel here for the how this is perceived. I have been working
: to develop a SOF kit for a while now. (plywood frames) I am trying to
: decide on the the best method(s) to offer people to assemble the frames. I
: am a big fan of lashing boats together. I lash mine and really like the
: feel on the water.
: I am wondering if a first time/new builder is not going to be scared of this?
: My guess is they will be and would be more comfortable squirting glue on
: the joint and driving in a screw to hold it together. (Of course you can't
: just squirt in glue, you would mix up epoxy and some thickening agent.) I
: have done one that way and really didn't care for it. But I admit it is
: quicker than all that lashing.
: Love to hear some input especially from some of the lurkers that area new to
: building. If your not comfortable posting drop me an email. Just remove
: the two "-" in my email address
