Thought I would share the latest project or I should developmental project. This is the second version of Curlew I am building. The first Curlew is paddled quite often and I have been well pleased with it. I felt I could improve it some and this is an attempt at that.
Main changes, I added a peak to the deck on the rear of the boat. She is intended as a day boat but the storage space behind the seat couldn't be accessed. The opening in the frame was just to small. So I wanted to raise the deck a little to open up the space.
I doubled up the frame at the front of of the cockpit and thinned it at the top to gain some knee room. Reshaped the deck framing too. I wasn't totally happy with the first one. I knew I could clean it up some.
While I was making changes I added a little bit more rocker in the hull in hopes of it turning a low speeds a bit better. It tracks well and small adjustments to direction take just a little lean. But sitting still and trying to turn around just took to much effort for my tastes. (yes I am little picky).
I have all the parts cut for the boat now. It's sitting there all clamped and bungee corded together. I expect to start Monday lashing the frames together.
