The people writing those epoxy manuals are not wood workers. They usually paint
their hulls. It's quick and fast to sand to 80 grit then glass, but the
difference in the beauty of the wood luster will only show if you sand to 220.

I've gone around with them on this and sanding to 220 will not give you a weaker
bond, but you will have a better looking wood boat.
