Hi John,

Wood boats have been repaired with loose fiberglass, gouges, holes and even busted into pieces. The damage you describe sounds manageable.

There is a thread from a few days ago "Refurbishing an old stripper" that has a link to another post talking about how to use a heat gun to soften fibergalss and remove it.

Sounds like you need to remove glass around the damaged areas and reglass them. I would try to remove the stained wood by sanding down a bit. If it is deep you may need to replace some wood. Others more experienced here should be able to offer better guidance.
