I put a piece of double-sided foam tape on each side of the slot on the bottom of the jig. And then attach the jig to the deck and secure it from rocking with packing tape. The slot in the jig matches the slot being cut in size and location. I use a 1/8 bit and run the router along all 4 sides of the jig. The slot ends up 1-1/16 x 3/16 inch.
