Dave,
Very ingeneous. I used the fishing line trick to pull the padeyes through on my younger daughter's boat last night; it worked very well. We still need to cut the slots on my older daughter's boat. Previously you said you cut the slots after varnishing; the double stick and packing tapes didn't effect the varnish any?

: I put a piece of double-sided foam tape on each side of the slot on the
: bottom of the jig. And then attach the jig to the deck and secure it from
: rocking with packing tape. The slot in the jig matches the slot being cut
: in size and location. I use a 1/8 bit and run the router along all 4 sides
: of the jig. The slot ends up 1-1/16 x 3/16 inch.
