Hi,
Through an accident yesterday, a swell picked up my kayak and tossed my Pygmy Coho, bow first, into a metal buoy. The result is that impact with the buoy ripped off about a 1/2 inch of the pointed nose (where the deck meets the bow) of the kayak. The buoy, of course, was no worse for the enounter.
So...any suggestions on how should I proceed with the repair?
All I can think of is to...
- sand down the area and a little beyond the damaged area
- using wood flour + epoxy build a new nose/point (as if rebuilding the shape with putty)
- fiberglass over the point;
- varnish
I realize that the kayak will never look the same, but then this is not a coffee table...
Many thanks for any ideas and suggestions.
Robert
