Pretty much have to read up on the various finishes, they don't all handle the same. Repairs on any of them though are definately trickier than with single part varnishes. Luckily there are really only about a half dozen on the market so it's not endless reading.

Interlux, US Paint (awlgrip), System3's water based are a couple off the top of my head. A web search will turn up more.
