I've thought about this, not done anything (on a boat) with it. A sling seat with padded fore and aft supports done right would be very comfy and if you used care in fabric selection would tend to be much drier than most rigid seats too. I built a couple on my old ultralights (aircraft) way back when and they were comfy for hours on end. The old fabric covered folding chairs my company used to build were also quite comfy.
