I lift up the coaming, and slap as much coating (I use Dura-tuff) on the fabric underneath the coaming as I can. Then, I also take Dura-tuff, and paint around the inside of the coaming, on the fabric, and down a couple inches inside the coaming. I figure then I have some protection all around the coaming on the skin. Slap your favorite goo into the outside of the coaming holes, be it Aquaseal, Lexel, or Marine Goop, or even some thick, semi-dried varnish, if that's what you are using for skin coating. If the holes aren't perfectly sealed, it shouldn't really matter, as I figure the smooth neoprene lip of my tuiliq or aquilisaq will also help seal up the holes. I've also had to Aquaseal some stitch holes in the seam of my skin, where the Dura-tuff was too thin and ran through without sealing.

Your favorite goop can fix almost anything....

: That was a helpful video. Fewer and further stitches than I expected. I see
: how the floating combing ring works. What about picking up a boat with
: floating combing, and 30+ pounds lifed by that setup?

: And, let me beat this horse a little more: The stitch holes getting filled by
: the polyurethane... I do get that the holes will be filled next to the
: cloth. But, if the base ring or combing riser is 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick,
: there's going to be enough natural flow or capillary action to seal the
: entire inside of the holes?
