I built a couple of kayaks for the kids using electrical PVC conduit - I had it to use up. Because they were relativly short and wide it was OK - took the knocks well. I epoxied dowels into the ends then cut to fit the bow and stern. Used wood for gunwalls and keel. Built in flotation a bonus!!
