: move that water and that force needs to increase to move the water faster.
: Think of a water skier moving very slowly as he takes off,he is quite
: unstable. As his speed increases, so does his stability and his skis are
: not moving the water much and therefore the water is supporting his weight
: more easily as his speed increases. Now suppose he puts more weight onto
: his left foot,and less on his right, he turns to the right.now if this
: were a kayak, the same forces and reactions must occur :- the boat rolls
: over on it's left side and the water pushes it up again until there is an
: equilibrium of weight on both sides of the boat.

Actually I think it's something like that. As a displacement boat increases in speed there is a wave formed at the bow and stern and since the ends are nearly vertical I think the water offers support to the sides of the boat there that isn't there when the boat is at rest.

Was hoping that one of the talented designers around here knew the answer
