Greenland paddles are an easy faith to get converted to!

This summer, a visiting paddling friend was unwise enough to lend me his spare GP for a few days while we were paddling together - I basically and barefacedly "admired" it out of him (thanks, Michael!). The following morning, I made the mistake of insisting that my wife 'try it out' - she did, for about three minutes, before telling me I wasn't getting it back.

So I made myself one, with the one and only stick of white cedar to be had anywhere in St. John's Newfoundland for love or money. Made lots of mistakes, and didn't really like the finished product - loom a little too wide, blades a tad too flat and skinny, wood not the best to begin with. Yesterday, tho, did a 15 km. paddle with it - and it works just peachy-keen, thank you. Was consistently ahead of the group (8 homebuilt kayaks, btw - 4 VOLKSKAYAKs, three Guillemots, and a Pygmy!). My wife, who's always tended to lag a bit behind, found she kept up very nicely indeed in four hours spent on the water, and didn't tire. We both found it a lot smoother than our spruce shaft/ply blade paddles of roughly equal weight. Gotta like it...
