: Here's what I did for my Shooting Star. The maple shown is quarter inch or
: close to that, as I recall. Resawn from a 3/4 inch piece using a 10"
: blade on the table saw and flipping the piece to get the depth of cut I
: needed. I sanded it reasonably flat and let the Titebond make up for minor
: irregularities in the three-ply lamination. I let the grain run the long
: way in the outer laminations, for appearance, and used the offset angle
: shown for the center piece--not a true 45 degrees, but that doesn't really
: matter; the idea is to make a sort of plywood to cancel out any potential
: warping.

That works.

I sometimes rip an 8" wide board into two 4" wide pieces, marking the grain to align it later.

Then rip those pieces with two 2" deep cuts from each side on the table saw or on my small bandsaw which can only make a 4" cut. Plane or sand the pieces to 1/4" and glue the 4" wides into an 8" piece.
