Hello Craig
I dressed my planks to 19mm in preparation for ripping the strips.

I have always used 19mm strips for the bulk of the work. As the rough sawn timber is nominally 25mm thick, it cleans up by the time it is dressed to about 20 to 22mm, so it seems to make sense to stick with the 19mm. I don't think I could bring myself to turn any more good timber into shavings.

On most of the kayaks I have ripped a few strips in half to do the tight curves. They usually finish up at about 8mm wide.

The first few batches of Paulownia, I bought 50x25 but the last couple I have got 75x25, partly because that is what John had available. There isn't a significant advantage in either size.

: G'day Allan,
: Hope to be heading down to Talygum to grab some Paulownia in the next couple
: of weeks. What width strip did you use on your TK1? 19 or 16. i'll be
: milling to 4mm as well.
: Cheers, Boof
