Ideally I like the masik to be around mid thigh for qajaq control (I don't use a separate knee brace). However, if you make a cockpit that tight, entry and exit will generally be impossible unless your knees hyperextend to a large degree or you set the masik too high to be effective. Therefore, for most people who don't include a knee brace, the masik needs to be just a bit above the knees.
