: There aren't a lot of cutoffs here, because the hardwood suppliers won't cut
: their wood. Everyone buys what's on the floor. I did get a nice small
: piece of sapele once, it was in a pile of wood that was used for spacing
: palette piles.

: re-saw a 1"x7" board. I was never able to keep the board
: perfectly vertical, it required a much better/taller fence than what I
: rigged up. In particular, the final inch or two of the cut usually got
: quite screwy. Added to that was that I didn't feel particularly safe with
: my setup. Doing a 2-pass cut, the second cut had the top half of the plank
: being cut free with no support on it, leaving it free to kick back. I
: didn't have any kick-back but I wasn't convinced that I was completely
: avoiding it.

You'll pay thru the nose for resawn wood, cheaper by far (unless you're looking for huge quantities, 1000 bd/ft or more) to do it yourself.
