: Yes, that is correct. Again: 19-foot Shearwater Atlantic

: One layer 4 oz top and bottom, one layer 6 oz bottom only up to deck/hull
: joint.

: Outer layers only, i.e. not the 'glass on the inside of the kayak

: Very poor layup- mixed the 'glass too much at one time and it set up fast and
: therefore I didn't squeegee it very good.

So, 7 pounds of glass and resin for the outside.

So, at least 7 pounds for the inside glass and resin, assuming you do the
standard reinforcement under fore and aft deck and cockpit area, but then you
said you mixed large batches of resin (said, "mixed the glass) I assume
you meant resin.

Large amounts of quick setting resin will run off the outside of a boat,
but the inside of the deck and hull are like a big bowl and you can add
a lot of weight.

Extra weight from resin, too thick to remove excess from glass with a
squeegee, glass floating on top of a pool of thickening resin, resin
soaked deck/hull seams, big messy bulkhead fillets, and end pours.

If you use strategies to keep resin thin, small batches, flat trays, roll on
thin coats, you will apply less and remove more excess with a squeegee.
Mask off every area you can to keep things clean and remove excess.

Glassed hull/deck seams take a lot less work and weigh much less than the
sheerclamp method of joining deck and hull.

The old, backpackers credo, comes in play here;
Pay attention to the ounces and the pounds will take care of themselves.
